Payment Links and Merchant Acceptance: Getting Paid Without a Terminal

For a merchant, acceptance is the whole point — but the friction is rarely the money, it's the details. Ask a customer to type your account number, sort code, amount, and a reference and a chunk of them will get it wrong or give up. A payment link removes all of that: it is a URL that opens a payment screen with everything already filled in. The customer confirms; that's it.

Link, QR, request — one idea

A payment link and a QR code are the same thing wearing different clothes. Both encode a payment request — who to pay, how much, a reference. Print the QR on a table tent for in-person acceptance; drop the link in an invoice or a chat for remote acceptance. Under the hood it is one request; the payer resolves it to a prefilled, screened payment and confirms.

Collections: acceptance you can see

Creating links is half the job; the other half is collections — knowing what you've been paid. A collection is a payment request that settled. A good acceptance surface shows the totals at a glance: how much collected, how many links are still awaiting payment, and the conversion rate from links created to links paid. Each collection ties back to the settling payment, so reconciliation is automatic rather than a month-end chore.

How Kibipay does it

Kibipay's Collections surface lets a merchant create a payment link (and QR) for an amount in one step, share it, and watch it flip to collected the moment it's paid — with a live summary of amount collected, pending links, and conversion. Because it rides the same orchestration layer as everything else, the payment underneath can settle over any rail, and it inherits Confirmation of Payee and real-time screening for free. Acceptance isn't a bolt-on terminal; it's the same platform, pointed at money coming in.

The point

Merchant acceptance used to mean hardware, a merchant account, and a settlement delay. A payment link collapses it to a URL and a confirmation. The sophistication moves from the point of sale into the platform — routing, screening, settlement, collections — where it belongs, and the merchant just shares a link and gets paid.
